From Middle Finian tān, from Early Finian tōn, a syncope of earlier *tonon, from Finio-Dhannic donon (compare Aurónian dón), from Proto-Lúsanic dṓnon, from Proto-Indo-European *deh₃nom (compare Sanskrit dānam, Latin dōnum).
