Northern Thedish is a dialect of Thedish that is highly divergent from Standard Thedish. It uses many inflectional forms and isoglosses that were lost in Standard Thedish.

san (< sá yn) = specific article

gume = human

viar = man (male)

derie = to hurt

kvaz þat... = once upon a time/it came to pass

Grammar

Verbs

Infinitive: mak, make = to make, to do

Present: ikьm at mak, þúr at mak, er isь at mak, virьm at mak, urьþ at mak, sínь at mak

Past: ik maks, þú maks, er maks, vir maksier, ur maksier, sí maksier

Perfect: ikьm siúð mak, þúr siúð mak, er isь siúð mak, virьm siúð mak, urьþ siúð mak, sínь siúð mak (In Standard Thedish siúþen means 'after'.)

Future: ik vind at mak, þú vind at mak, er vind at mak, ... (from vinden 'to become')

Conditional: ik vier at mak, þú vier at mak, er vier at mak, ...

Irrealis/Imperative: ik mak, þú mak, er mak, vir makem, ur makeð, sí makeð
