• The Demiurges "to form the embryo": The water-eater in the primordial sea, the earth-eater on the primordial sea; the fire-eater under the primordial sky; the wind-eater in the primordial sky.

In the beginning, before below and above formed a polished vault with sky's name [e], when blazing sunrays shone not yet upon the surface of the earth [i], ere the sea in the gaping void poured waves [u], when heaven was not yet tarnished with rotten sulfur's birth [o], there was God [numen]: who, with neither word nor silence but both, deposited an unlaid egg before its own mother; the primal one [aeon], whose outer shell and inner were the same.

Every shape and norm — be it hot but cold, visible when hidden, mobile at rest — was its yolk, with deformed albumen of changing elements moving as a chaotic mass around perfect vitellum, and Father [numen] and Mother [numen] as opposite twins competing within the uterus, or the very snakes in coitus, being driven by paradoxial expanse. So to severe above from below it did not last for the hatching quarrel — the heat that evaporates, the moisture that sinks — to burst contents [aeon] to fill the deep abyss, where an inferior ocean would form out of the black amnion [i][u], and conflagrated fragments [aeon] rearrange as a disc in high limbo [e][o].

The Demiurge [numen] would gaze beneath, at the absolute darkness of its former albumen [aeon], by which aquatic creatures first agitated the cycles of creation and destruction; gaze over, at the shining shell [aeon] by which rapine talons scratched eternal figures; and noticing such distance among Mother [numen] and Father [numen] over the umbillical seed [aeon], eight of their arms would weave threads of silk as renewable as nether rope and imperishable as the firmament, so to fasten with a binding net the promised union of parents. Four winds spread the web over the face of the deep waters — with directions divided lest they tore the cosmos asunder —: the Archon whose nurturing breasts fed the harvesting calf [i]; the disrupting son who plunged with cold-blooded crawlers [u]; the lioness of fiery breath, whom springing flowers bend over to [o]; and the singing fowl, patriarch of nests in breezeful Summer [e]. To these the hermaphrodite had toned thunderly in architectonic decree: "My children, I tell you, and I tell you truly, our Mother's moons shall never escape the sea; our Father's suns shall never descend the zenith. So to revolt against nature and the very art: let there be strife. Red, rise each dawn; blue, blossom at dusk; when day, white; black, be night."

Winter Season (Gestation)

• The Pillars "to develop the embryo": The water-eater shall support the land by swimming, so it does not sink into the chaotic waters; the earth-eater shall support the land by trampling, so it does not dissolve into chaotic earth; the fire-eater shall support the sky by roaring, so it does not petrify into orderly fire; the wind-eater shall support the sky by flying, so it does not ascend into orderly winds.

Spring Season (Birth)

• The Worlds: The tree's roots grew around the water-eater (forming the swamp); the tree's trunk grew around the earth-eater (forming the forest); the tree's branches grew around the fire-eater (forming the desert), and the tree's leaves grew around the wind-eater (forming the steppe).

Summer Season (Youth)

• The Passages "to set the axis in path": The churning of the Mother's milk by the water-eater's movements generated the four rivers and the aquatic beings; the grinding of the Mother's breasts by the earth-eater's movements generated the four mountains and the terrestrial beings; the condensation by the fire-eater's movements generated the four lights and the heavenly beings; the flux by the wind-eater's movements generated the four currents and the aerial beings.
