Normally, articles are not used, instead, the definite and indefinte forms of a word have their own form. This can lead to very long words, for example: läraænþăm (of a teacher). But sometimes, articles have to be used if there is an adjective between before the word. For example, the big house = dat stóra hūsat (the big(a) the house). The -a is added to stór, because there is an article in front of it
