Appa (Ash: ảhbas, lit. "where kelp is harvested", IPA [ˈʔɑħ.pəs̠]) is an anglicisation of the name of a major seaport in the Ash-speaking world. Something of a hub it is frequented by visitors brought in both by ship from across the sea (including the neighbouring Ish speakers, who call the town aqoȹo) and by steam train from the mountains, or even the occasional hot air balloon.
