From Old Aeranir źoucā, from Proto-Iscaric *(d)ɮeukā, from Proto-Maro-Ephenian *d̥ɮewc- ("to shine, to be bright"). Cognate with Dalitian sýkhnē, Proto-Fyrdic ɬukkô, and Stiric śocā.
