Etymology

From ⲥⲁ (sa) + ϩⲓⲙⲉ (hime).

By early Middle Maryan, the word and its synonym ϩⲓⲙⲉ (hime) were more or less interchangeable. By late Middle/early Modern Maryan, the word fell out of use entirely and was replaced by its synonym.
