Ah! Like gold fall the leaves in the wind,
long years numberless as the wings of trees!
The years have passed like swift draughts
of the sweet mead in lofty halls
beyond the West, beneath the blue vaults of Varda
wherein the stars tremble
in the song of her voice, holy and queenly.

Who now shall refill the cup for me?

For now the Kindler, Varda, the Queen of the Stars
from Mount Everwhite has uplifted her hands like clouds
and all paths are drowned deep in shadow;
and out of a grey country darkness lies
on the foaming waves between us,
and mist covers the jewels of Calacirya forever.
Now lost, lost to those from the East is Valimar!

Farewell! Maybe thou shalt find Valimar!
Maybe even thou shalt find it! Farewell!

<poem>
Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind
''Ai! iymuz hez'i tabexua al miula r'úx eý,''
Long years numberless as the wings of trees
''iarje al'a xenuym'en cual cudil' hian!''
The years have passed like swift draughts
''Aír'ūño iarje cual ýuý nei''
Of the sweet mead in lofty halls
''ūsad ūtsad xaïjentes cuj eý''
Beyond the West, beneath the blue vaults of Varda
''jen'um cun'm'i, xeiuño cur Varda mun'mi''
Wherein the stars tremble
''jál eý āhaíburbur jena''
In the song of her voice, holy and queenly”
''aian ýemux hé eý, xíc'ad habyan.''

Who now shall refill the cup for me?
''Nuc' txadiz ej xad yanxad āhsyen je?''

For now the Kindler, Varda, the Queen of the Stars from Mount Everwhite
''Un' jál xil eý āhcuzax Xem'iuuóc, Varda, Habyan Jena''
Has uplifted her hands like clouds
''Oiolossëo xenuz, réú cual cum'ay,''
And all paths are drowned deep in shadow
''ucur'n'iý cur'n'i muzr'u jutxux colpmux eý;''
And out of a grey country darkness lies
''un' jernexuñ xem xenuz āhuil ez'e curjí''
On the foaming waves between us
''rév'en uuxuu eý āhinhian''
And mist covers the jewels of Calacirya forever
''aíuats hez'i ñij cum'ay cutseu Calacirya.''
Now lost, lost to those from the east is Valimar!
''Jál eý āhaíýoc, aíýoc Valimar jál tum'uj xenuz je!''

Farewell! maybe thou shalt find Valimar
''Cualuño! Uc' coreu Valimar.''
Maybe even thou shalt find it. farewell!
''Uc' coreu. Cualuño!''
