Proto-Cushitic *af (Somali af, Afar af, Oromo afaan). Cognate to Proto-Semitic *pay, which gave rise to Arabic فَم (famm), Hebrew פֶּה (pé), Aramaic פּוּמָא (pūmā), Ethio-Semitic አፍ (af).
