Hÿdrisch

Hÿdrisch (/ˈhaɪdriskʰ/) or dez Hÿdrische sprach (/dɛ(t͡s) ˈhaɪdriskʰɛ spraːkʰ/) (Hydren or the hydric language in English) is a west germanic language spoken in Hydra and East Hydra, two small countries in the alps between Italy and Switzerland.

A variation of Hÿdrisch is spoken in South America, called Amrëcenhÿddren (/amˈrɛɪkɛnˈhaɪðrɛn/)

Classification

Hÿdrisch is a posteori artlang, and could also be called an altlang, since it exists in a universe where events that differ from our own history has transpired, even though they are relatively minor.

Orthography

Hÿdrisch uses the Hydric aplabet, which is a variant of the Latin script. The Hydric alphabet is almost the same as the English, but with the addition of the letters ä, å, ë, ö, ü, ÿ.

Grammar

Hÿdrisch features SVO word order in statements and VSO in questions. It also features T-V distinction. Adjectives and adverbs can go on either side of the word they describe.

Gender

Hÿdrisch has two grammatical genders, which are officially called z-uertes (/zeːt ʊɛrtɛs/) (ein, dez) and e-uertes (eː ʊɛrtɛs) (eine, die), but could also be considered masculine (-z) and feminine (-e) or neuter (-z) and common (-e).

Nouns

Hÿdrische nouns have two cases; nominative and genitive. The genitive case doesn't differ from genitive case apart from the genitive suffix, a -e on z-words (dez stadte pobulazione - the city's population) and -ze, -te or -de on e-words (die nazzionete chapitale - the nation's capital).
