Etymology

Created as of November 1, 2002, out of concern that tok ("ale") → [[Contionary:|]] ("all") would be confused for tok ("ala") → [[Contionary:|]] ("no"). From .

Could have been inspired by the three-vowel system proposal made on July 8, 2002, in which Template:IPAchar and Template:IPAchar would merge with Template:IPAchar and Template:IPAchar, respectively. Sonja Lang considered it, but ultimately rejected it.
