Etymology

From Proto-Iscaric xloiðos ("ear"), from PME geli ("to be clear, to hear; ear, eye, faculty"). Compare with helior ("I am bright"), helisciç ("to clear up"), hollus ("window, porthole"). Cognate with Dalitian gleîdos ("sky, field"), Proto-Fyrdic glaudaz ("trophy").
