Knašta

Alternative forms

Etymology

Borrowed from Korstek čakňa, which is a calque of the English chairman: čak (chair) + ňa (man). However, unlike in English, it is gender neutral.

Čak is from the Proto-Indo-Korinthic *tšʷakʰ (stone, a place to sit).

Ňa is from the Proto-Indo-Korinthic *níā (man), from root *ní (having to do with people).

Pronunciation
