From Old Tefrian cy (/cē/), from Proto-Tephricheic *ce, from Proto-Asisic *ki (compare Proto-Indo-European *éǵh₂). Cognate with West Achissari چم (cem), East Achissari چم (cem), Vancian men, Bulusic şin, Nyongom ман (man), Dovasene ки (ki), and Khbirye ჩა (ča), also distantly related to descendants of Proto-Indo-European *éǵh₂, such as English I, French je, Irish mé, Greek εγώ (egó), Russian я (ja), and Armenian ես (es).
