Pomorian

Etymology

From Old Pomorian būtei. From Proto-Balto-Slavic *būˀtei; cognates include Lithuanian būti, Latvian būt, Proto-Slavic *byti, Old Prussian būtwei, būtun.

From Proto-Indo-European *bʰuH- (“to grow, to prosper” > “to become, to be”). Compare to Sanskrit भवति (bhavati) (“to become, to be”), Latin fīō (“I become”) and English be.
