Pomorian
Etymology
From Old Pomorian būtei. From Proto-Balto-Slavic *būˀtei; cognates include Lithuanian būti, Latvian būt, Proto-Slavic *byti, Old Prussian būtwei, būtun.
From Proto-Indo-European *bʰuH- (“to grow, to prosper” > “to become, to be”). Compare to Sanskrit भवति (bhavati) (“to become, to be”), Latin fīō (“I become”) and English be. The present tense forms come from Proto-Indo-European *h₁es- (“to be”), compare to Ancient Greek εἰμῐ́ (eimí) (“to be, to exist”), Old Irish and English is.
