High Valyrian

Pronunciation

  • (Post-Classical) IPA(key): [ˈdiːnaɡon]

Verb

dīnagon (first-person singular present indicative dīnan, first-person singular present subjunctive dīnon, perfect participle dīna)

  1. to put, to place
  2. to wed, to perform the marriage ceremony

Usage notes

Sense 1: the meaning is narrowed to the act of placing something where it belongs or where it is intended, e.g. to put on socks on feet.

Sense 2: dīnagon is subtly different from idīnagon. The former focuses in one of the wedded, as in

Ao ynoma dīnilūks?
Will you marry me?

while the latter refers to the general act of wedding, as in

Abre se vale idīntaksi.
The man and the woman married.
(literally, “were married”)

Both are usually used in the passive.

Conjugation

Declension of dīnagon — active voice
