Lifashian
Etymology
A nominalized usage of Proto-Indo-European *h₁su- "good", as in the Lifashian prefix suˤ- "good" and the adjective suˤás "good".
Pronunciation
Noun
su f, rarely m (undeclinable, defective)
- kindness, goodness
- Sá su tarpen nósso esti.
- Kindness is what we need.
- Sá su tarpen nósso esti.
Usage notes
This noun is only ever used in the nominative singular; all other forms are expressed using the synonym sutá instead.
It is most commonly used as feminine, likely due to the -tá suffix in the synonym. Masculine concord is sometimes found in older poetry, as well as in Central Inland dialects (areas of Bádwer, Leninsyahr, Gelehafnené, Kalénisaray).
