From Proto-Algonquian *weθkahtekwi (“his forehead; his snout, muzzle”).[1] Cognate to Ojibwe oshkinzh (“snout”)[2] and Cree ᐅᐢᑳᐦᑎᐠ (oskaahtik, “his forehead”)
