This Proto-Coelo-Caric entry contains reconstructed words and roots. As such, the term(s) in this entry are not directly attested, but are hypothesized to have existed based on comparative evidence.

Proto-Coelo-Caric

Alternative forms

  • *tagna
  • *tagnɔ

Etymology

Phonotactics suggest that this may have been a compound word, from *tay, *tag + *na, *nɔ.

This reconstruction is dubious, particularly because of the Carichendan vowel o, the source of which is not fully understood. Even the cognate relationship between Carichendan dyora and cheundala is somewhat speculative.

Noun

*tayna

  1. dull, dim

Descendants

  • Old Carichendan: *dyawla (< Pre-Carichendan *tjayna, *tjauna)
    • Modern Carichendan: dyora
  • Old Carichendan: *chneuntala (< Pre-Carichendan *čtamtayna, *čtamta(n)na < Proto-Coelo-Caric *čtɔb tayna)
