From Old Aeranir leibros, from Proto-Iscaric xleiðros ("sky, weather"), from Proto-Maro-Ephenian gleidoš ("clear, visible"), from geli ("to be clear, to hear; ear, eye, faculty"). Compare with helior ("I am bright"), helisciç ("to clear up"), hollus ("window, porthole"), loebus ("ear, hearing").
