Grammar

Pronouns

Each person has an independent pronoun, a clitic for possession, and a verbal ending (see #Verbs)

  • mína, -mu, -mi
  • kína, -su, -si/zi
  • téna, -nu, -ni/ði
  • ???????

Nouns

Productive nominalising suffixes:

  • -i -- generic nominaliser
  • -(u)lu -- diminutive, frequentive, intensifier
  • -mi -- nominalises a phrase

Adjectives

Adjectives may also be used in place of nouns.

A brief list of adjective suffixes:

  • -(a)ki -- generic adjectives
  • -(e)za -- specifically adjectives of origin

Verbs

The main verb stem ending is -a. This vowel ending is not exclusive to verbs.

Personal Endings

These come at the end of the word, are as as follows (bracketed-a is the verbal stem vowel):

  • -(á)mi -- 1st person
  • -(á)si, -(a)zi -- 2nd person
  • -(á)ni, -(á)ði -- 3rd person
  • -a-i => é -- 4th person
  • -(á) -- colloquial 3rd/4th person

Note there is no plurality distinction present in verb endings

TAMetc

The order of suffixes is roughly the inverse of English word order in a statement.

  • -(a)kin(á)- -- debitive, generally comes at the end of a verb before the personal suffixes
-akinámi = I must do X
  • -ul(á/ú)- -- frequentative, intensive
-ulukinázi = You must do [some intensive frequent activity]

Prepositional modals

  • kí = past tense
  • me = negative
