Anøvr (English: /ˈɑːnəvər/; Eevo: ['alœvr]; Bhadhagha: (an) hAnbhair [(an) ˈhanbʰair]; Classical Netagin: ʔĂnöfri /ʔənövˈri/; Nurian: Anubbē [æ'nʊbbʲæː]; Bênôcian: Anôvrí /anoivˈɾi/; Clofabosin: Anubrolocin) is a country in Northern Talma. Its current prime minister is Brwndin Salis.

Name

The name Anøvr comes from Thensarian Anubrē, through Old Eevo Anḃair. The ø probably is a result of influence from the Noble Netagin variant of the name.

Physical geography

In the northwest border separating Anøvr from Smewla is the Ngohltrian mountain range, whence originates the Tigol river supplying water to the western Andjwr region.

Cuisine

Anøvrian cuisine is traditionally based around bread and pastas made from the grain sŋyrm. Plant protein (often made into blocks) is common, but are often supplemented by animal products such as dairy products, fish, shellfish, meat, or insects (by people who eat them). Flavoring agents are traditionally mushrooms and seaweeds used for their umami flavor, as well as fruits, berries and their wine for sweetness; imported spices such as Nurian lenkah (chili), pīdah and maggiū from southern Etalocin were historically greatly valued. Some fat sources are nuts, butter, or fatty fruits such as the ymnahd, which are often used for sauces.

70% of the population surveyed (2676) adhere to some form of veganism or various forms of vegetarianism (Eevo: trovið). Vegetarianism is somewhat more common among women and people of high SES.

Primary and secondary education

Basic literacy, arithmetic, finance and inculcation of liberal values are considered the most important function of public education.

Secondary school largely continues primary education but the education is meant to be more morally and socially comprehensive in a time of adolescence. However, some schools offer more specialized curricula in the sciences, arts or the humanities. For illustration, this is a typical modern Etalocian science school math curriculum:

  • Calculus (one-variable and multivariable)

  • Probability and statistics; combinatorics
  • Linear algebra

Higher education

There are two major paths for higher education: apprenticeships/trade schools and universities. Apprenticeship, which is highly decentralized, attempts to teach skills directly relevant to a career path that a person wishes to enter; most of the time it leads directly to internships or jobs. Trade schools attempt to scale up this apprenticeship. Universities are considered to be appropriate only for those who aim to eventually enter research or teaching.
