Etymology
From Old Tefrian ċš (/ċuš/), from Proto-Tephricheic *ċuš, from Proto-Asisic *iḳušṯ. Cognate with West Achissari جس (jas), East Achissari څس (jˀos), Vancian iç, Bulusic şű, Nyongom ишис (išis), Dovasene ыкус (ykus), and Khbirye ახს (axs), also distantly related to descendants of Proto-Indo-European *oḱtṓw, such as English eight, French huit, Irish ocht, Greek οκτώ (októ), Russian восемь (vosemʹ), and Armenian ութ (utʻ), and to descendants of Proto-Kartvelian *otxo-, such as Georgian ოთხი (otxi) and Laz ოთხო (otxo).
