Decent suggestion!
What do you think of adding the like to the coming main page? :D Waahlis 00:45, 1 July 2012 (EST)
The prefix didn't work... :( -- Waahlis 00:47, 1 July 2012 (EST)
I know, its a reoccuring problem that you can't get rid of. Emperor Zelos 01:11, 1 July 2012 (EST)

Disambiguation page
Could you make a disambiguation page for the "Policies" in the sidebar? Which links to all three of them? I'll rename one of them to "Conduct policy". -- Waahlis 02:04, 1 July 2012 (EST)
I can make it go to a page that does it, but not so it splits on the side for us Emperor Zelos 02:05, 1 July 2012 (EST)
I'll fix it - done in a moment! Waahlis 02:06, 1 July 2012 (EST)
Design
Well, I think the design of a template of this purpose should be rather modest. In my opinion, there's not much I can do. Waahlis 23:03, 1 July 2012 (EST)
Is that that it is good enough as it is? Emperor Zelos 23:04, 1 July 2012 (EST)
Yes, you did a good job. Ugly picture you found though :p Waahlis 23:06, 1 July 2012 (EST)
I did the most sensable thing I could, I just imported it from wikipedia :P
Hey
I'm mostly working on making my main conlang presentable. It's currently well-developed by my personal standards, but I'm the sort to make lots of sketchy languages, so that doesn't say much (six whole words!). Thank you for the welcome :) Vbfdoee 03:16, 2 July 2012 (EST)
No problem =) We would love seeing yoru stuff or if you could help us out on our many imported articles and much more! =) Emperor Zelos 03:18, 2 July 2012 (EST)
You two know each other :) ? Waahlis 03:33, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Nope, just being friendly Emperor Zelos 03:51, 2 July 2012 (EST)
I can't bother being friendly. Disturbs my creative mind. And ruins my clothes. Waahlis 03:50, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Yeah, friendliness leavessome aweful stains on clothes, especially with happy endings Emperor Zelos 03:51, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Well, not that friendly... Waahlis 03:53, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Quick question
Quick question - what are those sliders you can have on boxes called? Hjärnsläpp..! Waahlis 03:52, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Hjärnsläpp sounds like a good title for Chapter XII of Romeo and Juliet :P Pá mamūnám ontā́ bán 04:39, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Note: Do not take to seriously^
How come? :p Have you translated it? And I haven't read the book! Do tell! Waahlis 05:42, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Well, obviously I had no idea what hjärnsläpp meant as so searched it on Wiktionary but could only find an entry on the Swedish-language Wiktionary. I then translated the Swedish definition of hjärnsläpp and got "a temporary loss of common sense". For some reason I decided to Google this phrase and one of the first hits was a Romeo and Juliet fan-fiction. Chapter 12 of this fan-fiction was called A Temporary Loss of Common Sense. So I assume that Hjärnsläpp would be a good Swedish translation :P
As it happens I have read the book and seen the play as well as the awful modernisation starring Leonardo di Caprio - it really is awful! Pá mamūnám ontā́ bán 06:01, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Me myself have only seen the, quoting, [the"] awful modernisation starring Leonardo di Caprio!" The most common translation for hjärnsläpp is brain freeze :p, but a literal translation would be difficult; brain release, brain loss, letting go of one's brain. The word isn't exactly derived according to the norms...
Oh, yes two more things: One, I'm leaving again, if you hadn't noticed (being busy playing Superman and all), and two, what do you think of my Swedish? -- Waahlis 06:32, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Well in English "brain-freeze" is the painful sensation you get when you eat too much ice-cream at once :P I'm moving my stuff into a new flat in a couple of days... moving is a stressful business. I saw it! Looks interesting. Pá mamūnám ontā́ bán 06:35, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Must be different between nations (that is, UK - USA) then? I'm 110 % on the translation. My dear brother moved three times during half a year. Bleeding genius. And on my Swedish; I've been quite narrow, and included my sociolect... Waahlis 06:39, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Not as far as I know, they've called it "brain freeze" on The Simpsons (in season twelve, episode nineteen: I'm Goin' To Praiseland - 1:39 in if you can find a video online) for example. Well, I'm off to France in September and then Russian in February then to a new flat in England next July :p Pá mamūnám ontā́ bán 06:42, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Odd. Very well. Whatever it is, it is surely not translated as brainfreeze in English! Well, good luck, and all my jealousy for you! Waahlis 06:52, 2 July 2012 (EST)
What slides are you refering to exacly? Emperor Zelos 14:03, 2 July 2012 (EST)
Bad news
Wikia have denied your right to delete Umbrean :/ Pá mamūnám ontā́ bán 08:43, 3 July 2012 (EST)
Yeah, they are clearly watching that page alone to fuck with me =/ Emperor Zelos 18:35, 3 July 2012 (EST)
Bara redigera det långsamt tills det blir ett annat språk. :p That's how I'm going about the problem there :). --OlykoekSlayer 15:24, 5 July 2012 (EST)
Kan ha kommit runt det nu, får se. Emperor Zelos 17:37, 5 July 2012 (EST)
Old website
Are we still using the old website at all? I looked at it and it seems to be much more active than this one, and it also doesn't link to here. Should there be a link so that people are drawn here to increase traffic and content? It seems odd to have two websites going at once. --Fauloro 14:02, 3 July 2012 (EST)
We wanted to get rid of the old wiki, but because of license reasons, it cannot be deleted. Originally we moved because the old wiki was full of trash and we wanted to have a fresh start, but we learned their terrible policies afterward and so now there're two wikis. The other is mostly active because of the discussion about the wiki still going on there, and because people constantly show up to start a language but never come back(tons of barely started junk langs). As this wiki is still being setup, it is a bit good that there's not a bunch of junk traffic yet :) --OlykoekSlayer 14:53, 3 July 2012 (EST)
What Olyk said, alot of us are not retrunging due to the shitty policies wikia has and their unproffesional behavior, but that one stays sadly and we shall be better than it by simply being better =) Emperor Zelos 17:23, 3 July 2012 (EST)
If you want a demonstration of the assine behavior of wikia, just look at Umbrean, we have tried removing it but they keep readding it just because they don't like this =/ I have removed pages there for year but no reaction and now they won't allow it. Emperor Zelos 21:10, 3 July 2012 (EST)
Contionary
When the main page loaded, "matra" was listed in Contionary, despite me having changed it to "matre", is there a fix for this? I'm also in the middle of changing instances of "Faulona" to "Favlona", but not all pages can be moved. Also, in one of my words in Contionary, it is listed in bold in the etymology instead of being a hyperlink (which would be red, since we don't have a page for the Latin word "sponda" on the site), and I can't figure out how to fix it. --Fauloro 12:55, 5 July 2012 (EST)
The etymology thing will I look into but you just move pages to have ti changed, if you mean the random word thing you just go to the faulon/favlon template there and change it. Emperor Zelos 14:03, 5 July 2012 (EST)
And its bold because it is linking to itself Emperor Zelos 14:04, 5 July 2012 (EST)
I'm back...?
Yeah, well, I'm trying to get a grip of what's happened here, people speak of Wikia, Rostovs back, though cheerful, Umbrean's stuck on the old site, an influx of users. My God, what have you been up to? :/ Waahlis 07:51, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Wikia has started a war basicly Emperor Zelos 11:20, 6 July 2012 (EST)
And rostov does like a baby and runs to mummy and cries these days too :D Emperor Zelos 11:23, 6 July 2012 (EST)
I just find this so bleeding hilarious you've got no idea....! You know when we tackled Rostov's deletion of Kti with a vote? I had read the fact that the content belonged to the community in the license and figured that'd be a good argument, but didn't really think someone during serious circumstances would follow the rule? And now it turns out that our deletion of Kti through voting was heavily liberal!
Where did that bloke from Wikia come frome anyways? And to me it seems Rostov's been rather careful, lately? Waahlis 21:48, 6 July 2012 (EST)
He came from rostov running there crying "buhu they are being mean!" Emperor Zelos 22:45, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Heh as shown having the maturity of a 5 year old dipshit Emperor Zelos 22:49, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Oh. But why has Kti been restored then? Waahlis 22:58, 6 July 2012 (EST)
As said, if he is going to go like that on wikia and give MOB a hard time he won't be cut some slack here and it remains in accordance to the rules he find just. everyone else goes by different rules =) Emperor Zelos 23:08, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Starting a conlang
How exactly do you go about starting an a priori conlang? A posteriori ones are somewhat easy to me, since you just apply certain sound changes and deal with irregularities to create a descendant, maybe mix in influence from another language, but I'm horrible at making words, and creating conjugations or inflections. Nothing ends up sounding good, and I've abandoned the beginnings of conlangs so many times. I tend to have more success if I start with an agglutinative language and apply sound changes until it's a fusional descendant, but do you have any advice for just creating words and endings and stuff? --Fauloro 13:40, 6 July 2012 (EST)
I do have some recomendations if you don't want a perfect proto-lang prior.
- Have an over all regularity and irregularity, for example if you have person/number conjugation then 1st person and 2nd person in singular can have no relation to one another (irregularity) but first person singular nad plural can be visibly related, a form of regularity.
- For word stems just make them fitting to phonotactics
- If you have agreement between word classes the agreements should be similar in structure, if masculine singular has an m-ness in its structure then the adjectives of same sort should have m-ness in it aswell.
Those are the ones I can think of now =) Emperor Zelos 14:21, 6 July 2012 (EST)
I hope that help Emperor Zelos 14:59, 6 July 2012 (EST)
It did, thank you! I have an agglutinative language started. --Fauloro 18:36, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Is it intended to be the language or the proto-lang? Emperor Zelos 19:09, 6 July 2012 (EST)
Proto-lang. That way I can move on later to a fusional descendant, after a bunch of sound changes. I'm planing on not having a copula, and it'd be erg-abs, but should pronouns be completely regular? Like maybe it could be about as regular as Quechua, with only one verb type, just arranged in such a way that verb classes would arise based on the last few letters before the conjugations, and i-mutation could cause even more irregularities. Also thinking of having interesting external sandhi so that words mutate depending on the surrounding sounds. Do you think that would work? --Fauloro 07:50, 7 July 2012 (EST)
The sound change appliance to a word is inversely proportional to the frequence of usage.
Basicly the more a word is used the less it changes, pronouns will retain old/irregular forms for a very long time. Emperor Zelos 14:04, 7 July 2012 (EST)
Myyy template, myyyy template!
Nāmic
So tell, me what were you saying about the "prefixes"? :D Waahlis 00:40, 10 July 2012 (EST)
In for example retrospective the prefix is always tā- I would assume it would have been beaten up more and be different in all or atleast some/a few of the PN (Person Number) conjugations. Emperor Zelos 00:58, 10 July 2012 (EST)
The reason is because ta- isn't a prefix; it is the reduplication of the (F)Cda, where Cd is a dental consonant. The verb sthā, [s̪θaː], gets the reduplicated tā-. Likewise, the verb hkānta, [xkaːnta], becomes kāhkantabham in the first person indicative present retrospective, but the verb āta, [aːt̪a], becomes ādata. Waahlis 01:25, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Wikia
I don't know if you care, but it would be good if you deleted a number of vandalism on the old wiki. Waahlis 16:53, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Probably would, but thats MOBs job these days. Considering what wikia has done I don't feel a huge desire to do jackshit for them Emperor Zelos 16:57, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Well, if you want to see the old wiki fall into his hands. Waahlis 16:58, 10 July 2012 (EST)
"It's hands". Fair point though. I will get around to it tomorrow. Today I got other things to do that is of far more importans Emperor Zelos 17:00, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Fair points to yourself! Waahlis 17:04, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Done =/ Emperor Zelos 17:34, 10 July 2012 (EST)
There were quite a few, weren't there? Waahlis 17:47, 10 July 2012 (EST)
7, 8 something like that. THats another reason why I wanted to move. Wikia is nutoriously large and hence attract that on every subsection. If we grow we still won't attract the same shit. Emperor Zelos 17:48, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Good point. And have you seen Frath, they've got like 7 fake accounts a day! But have you deleted the vandalism? Doesn't seem like it? Waahlis 17:55, 10 July 2012 (EST)
I took what I saw. Emperor Zelos 18:46, 10 July 2012 (EST)
Well, I think there are two left. Never mind. Waahlis 19:09, 10 July 2012 (EST)

case question
What's the difference between the allative and lative cases? --OlykoekSlayer 14:34, 13 July 2012 (EST)
as I understand it lative case refers to motiong to/toward while allative is a more general term of motion that can encompass to, from etc or even be a collective term for many cases as a group. Emperor Zelos 14:43, 13 July 2012 (EST)

Infobox
Would it be possible for you to import the template w:Template:Infobox? Waahlis 00:55, 18 July 2012 (EST)
Possible, yes, good results, most likely no.
What does it do? Emperor Zelos 01:18, 18 July 2012 (EST)
Ah. I see, nevertheless, it creates infoboxes which gives fast overivews over languages, scripts, et cetera. Waahlis 01:30, 18 July 2012 (EST)
I can do the coding though =) It is better starting from scratch often have I seen. Make a design that just shows things visually and I'll do the coding Emperor Zelos 01:34, 18 July 2012 (EST)
That's the problem, I liked their design, but the coding's so complex I don't get it. Waahlis 01:37, 18 July 2012 (EST)

QBQ BBQ
I do hereby declare a time of QBQ BBQ! - Quality before quantity barbecue! We shall for a time focus on improving articles, fixing links, find references, and not import any pages. Conlang pages are excepted! Dost thou agree? Waahlis 00:07, 25 July 2012 (EST)
Yeah sure, get going on improving articles :P If I am alone I am more likely to just import Emperor Zelos 00:14, 25 July 2012 (EST)
We should make a schthe primary schedule for the primary articles, for example, first Morphosyntactic alignment[*], then Grammatical case[*], then Declension[*], et.c. Waahlis 00:17, 25 July 2012 (EST)
Sure, MA is decently done but I agree, why not make a list of all articles on a forum page for the three Admins to vote in order of priority we deem and then use points to arrange it? Emperor Zelos 00:25, 25 July 2012 (EST)
A bit too cumbersome for my taste. Let's just agree on that the MA ought to fixed first? It is quite important, and is beginning to look good! -- Waahlis 00:33, 25 July 2012 (EST)
Agreed, I think Nouns => Cases => Declension => Declension constituencies then. Including all the guides that should be with it then Emperor Zelos 00:37, 25 July 2012 (EST)
Sounds good. By the way, have you ever been an aditor on Frath? Waahlis 00:44, 25 July 2012 (EST)

Comlang vowel shift template
Could you please make a template for comlang to shift the first occurring vowel/vowel diphthong? The order if the 2nd input is "A" or "#default" the vowel diphthongs would shift "ai>éi>ói>au>óu>ia>ió>iú>ai" and monophthongs would shift "í>ü>ï>ú>i>u>é>ó>ö>e>o>á>a>í". If 2nd input is "B", then do the opposite order; "ai>iú>ió>óu>au>ia>ói>éi>ai" and "í>a>á>o>e>ö>ó>é>u>i>ú>ï>ü>í". And only switch the first vowel. The word input is the 1st input. Do you think you can do it?
File:CircleConlang.jpgCL/ˈtɔk ˈpeɪdʒ/ 02:11, 29 July 2012 (EST)
For starters the #default is not an input, it is an output for switches.
Secondly it can be be done depending on sensitivity. If it is placement specific you would have to use explode, loop and switch. I can't do it for about 4 weeks sadly though so fi you can wait I can do it then. Emperor Zelos 02:46, 29 July 2012 (EST)
