From Middle Valthungian wegžjarīs, from weǧin ‘to cause to move’ (Middle Valthungian wegžjen, from Old Valthungian wegjan, from Griutungi wagjan; cf. Gothic wagjan, from ProtoGermanic wagjaną) and agentive suffix -iris, -aris (Middle Valthungian -(j)arīs, from Old Valthungian -(j)ārīs, from Griutungi -(j)ārīs; cf. Gothic -(j)āreis, from Latin -ārius).
