From Middle Valthungian ungwilo, from Old Valthungian ungwilō, cf. Gothic *uggwilō, from Proto-Germanic *uwwilǭ, diminutive of *uwwǭ, of imitative origin or a variant of *ūfaz, *ūfǭ.
